The new SymbolŪ Phaser 460 scanner is fully supported by The Jewellery Shopkeeper.  Can be used for:

• Point of Sale scanning
• Back office scanning

• Portable data collection, even from remote stores.

Virtually plug and play.  Just plug into a spare RS232 port (either COM1 or COM2) and add one simple instruction to the JSK.EXE command line - and you are ready to take inventory control to a higher level of efficiency.  Approximately 10-hour battery life while unplugged from charger, and memory for over 40000 codes, allows a remote store to be scanned in one remote session.

For stock take, simply walk around your store, scanning every piece of jewellery you can find.  (If a label does not have a bar code, the item's code can be entered via the built-in key pad.)  Plug the computer's RS232 cable into the scanner.    Select "Blind capture" from the menu.  Press the send button on the scanner.  More than 2000 codes per minute are transfered to the computer.    Select "Report" and you will get a list of:

• Items missing from the store
• Items in the wrong store/location
• Items scanned more than once
• Items that are not supposed to be in stock
• Items out on approval are identified
• Standard stock items where the on-hand quantity does not match the number of times that code was scanned

The normal laser scanner is usually supplied with a "keyboard wedge".  This simply plugs in between the computer and the keyboard and no software changes are required.  Other options are USB and RS232 interfaces.  Hand held scanners are useful for:

• Point of Sale scanning
• Back office scanning
